Valmet, a leading supplier of process technologies, automation, and services to the pulp, paper, and energy industries, has signed an extension of the service agreement with AS Estonian Cell’s aspen pulp mill in Kunda, Estonia. The agreement between the two companies has been extended for an additional five years, aimed at improving the mill’s production availability and efficiency.

Continuous Collaboration to Enhance Efficiency

Under the terms of the service agreement, Valmet will provide continuous collaboration on spare parts, process evaluations, and condition assessment of the mechanical equipment. Yearly shutdowns of the fiber line and baling line will also be covered under the agreement.

AS Estonian Cell produces 190,000 tons of aspen pulp annually, which is used in the production of printing paper, cardboard, tissue paper, and special-use paper. The company’s innovative technology allows for environmentally friendly production, such as sulfur-free production, chlorine-free bleaching, low water use, and a high wood yield.

Rain Pärn, the CTO of AS Estonian Cell, stated, “We are happy to continue our partnership with Valmet. With support from Valmet, we continue to develop our processes to increase the production availability and efficiency.”

Tomas Höglund, the Director of Technology Sales, EMEA Pulp Services, EMEA Area, Valmet, said, “We are proud to be able to continue the collaboration with AS Estonian Cell and support them in developing their operations to reach production targets.”
